Birth and Death Records and Certificates
The Vital Records Section of the Crawford County Health Department started keeping records in February 1882. There are no records in Indiana before that time. The Indiana State Department of Health in Indianapolis started keeping records in October 1907.
Records can be obtained from our office, on a walk in basis, Monday through Friday (except legal Holidays), 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Indiana code requires an applicant requesting a birth, whether by mail or in person, be required to show one form of identification containing the applicant's signature. A driver's license is preferred or you may use a tax return, social security card, library card, fishing license or credit card. Mail orders must include a photo copy of your driver's license.

This office has records for Crawford County only.
The Health Department will conduct a genealogy search on Crawford County birth and death records for $3.00 per name. You will receive a typed genealogy information sheet of any information found on record. We may not be able to provide same day service for this request.
